The cuisine at the Alkaline Cafe is just divine, the owner has achieved the delicate balance of taste and wholesome food perfectly. The atmosphere is informal, you can dine more formally at a table, lounge more informally around a table, watch the world pass you by from a bar stool, or fall asleep with a coffee and the paper in a comfy armchair. The staff are helpful and friendly, and the owner went above and beyond when I left my wallet there Christmas Eve! Have been to the Alkaline Cafe twice now, and both times the experience has exceeded my expectations.
Delicious! Loved the avocado on toast with sundried tomato cashew spread, rocket and side of mushroom. All were well seasoned and yummy, not just a standard smashed avo on toast meal. Loved the organic lattes, I tried the Luna (purple) and Mermaid (blue) with soy milk and so good! Went two days in a row

Nice atmosphere but coffee wasn't as nice as the reviews suggest. Milk was burnt and the almond milk wasn't made well. We paid 11 for a strong almond and a regular latter which seems a lot to me. Maximum I have paid in trendy Melbourne Cafes has been 9.50 for same order. I also had one of their wraps and was very disappointed to find it so bitter that I had to just eat the filling. It looked impressive and ingredients were very fresh but it was so bitter I ended up unwrapping to discover the secret ingredient and realised it was actually the breadMaybe they should taste the food before putting it on offer.
We stopped by for coffee on Sunday to check out the menu. Had a great chat with the owner and played the games. Came back for breakfast today and was not disappointed! Great atmosphere, music, decor and the food & coffee was outstanding. Highly recommend. Just wish Albany wasnt so far from Perth so we could visit more regularly!
